Spring Term 2018
This term Oak Class's topic is "Houses and Homes".
We will be looking at where we live, making a map of our village and learning our own address.
We will be making houses for "The Three Little Pigs" and looking at the materials used to make houses.
With "Goldilocks" we will be looking at different rooms and what is appropriate in each.
we will also make marshmallow igloos , ice art and build a teepee.
We will look at different animal homes, what lives in our school grounds and weave a spider's web.
In Maths our topic is measuring, learning about the different language - big/small, longer/taller/shorter, heavy/light, and lots of practical measuring.
We will consolidate numbers to 10, then to 20 and above when ready. some are now doing basic addition and counting on.
Most of the class know their initial sounds, we will now move on to long vowel sounds, and blending and segmenting words.
PE - gymnastics and tennis this term.
Spring Term 2017
This term Oak Class are looking at 'People Who Help Us'.
We have started with our school and looked at the different classes, who teaches where and made a map of the school. Mrs Robinson came to talk to us about her role as School Secretary.
Mrs Cooper, the Cook, helped us bake our own gingerbread men. We acted out the story of 'The Gingerbread Man' with everyone joining in.
We have organised lots of other visitors - The Police, Fire Brigade, RNLI, Vet and a trip to Myerscough College to visit the small animal centre.
We will focus on a very special person who helps us, our Mums, nearer to Mothering Sunday. Also all Mums from Oak and Ash class are invited to school for a special Mothering Sunday lunch.
When the top class go to their residential week to Borwick, Oak class have lots of fun Easter activities planned.
