ArtsMark Success

We are delighted to have achieved our ArtsMark Silver Award today.

The assessors had this to say about school;

Your Statement of Commitment and Statement of Impact have been assessed and we’re pleased to share this feedback from our assessors with you:

'Despite the limitations of Covid you worked imaginatively to develop your original plan which prioritised two main themes. First, continuing professional development to embed quality staff development and curriculum design and second, working on ways of delivering the curriculum to develop more creative children and young people. You are open about the extent to which Covid impacted your journey. Lockdowns were imposed soon after your Development Day. So progress may have been slowed by this. But it was not stopped. You drew in the expertise of external partners, from the local music service, to parents with arts skills who could help run after school clubs. So by drawing on connections and working through the arts in collaborative ways you have changed the atmosphere and ethos for young people who are energised by their arts participation and have a renewed enthusiasm for school. SImultaneously you have invested in CPD and training. Working with Blue Moose Dance Company, Lancashire Music Service and the CPD element within Kapow has all contributed to a boost in teacher confidence around use of the arts in learning. It feels that you have reached a point of convergence, where use of external arts partners, the growth in positive attitudes among learners and the development of new skills and confidence in teachers is now beginning to interweave and help you begin the next phase of your development. To take further steps it may be helpful to consider how teacher confidence can translate into arts-rich practice: how does teaching the arts, and aiming for more creative young people, manifest day to day in your curriculum and your classrooms? What will your signature pedagogies be? And how will these reflect the values of your school and your ambitions for learners longer term?'

Congratulations on your Artsmark Silver Award!

Huge thanks to Mrs Shields who works tirelessly alongside the staff to provide the children with so many different Arts experiences.
