Spring Term

Spring 2022

TBC

Spring Term 2

**DUE TO SCHOOL CLOSURES, PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM PAGE FOR REGULAR HOME LEARNING UPDATES**

The term Oak Class's topic is "Bloom into Spring"

The children will learn all about life cycles, this includes animal, insects and even plants.

To help enhance their learning we will also have various class pets for the children to observe. Tadpoles, caterpillars and chick eggs. Working with real animals and insects allows the children to learn about growth first hand and how to care for something and provide essential needs.

In Literacy, the children will continue to take part in their daily phonics, learning phase 3 sounds. This will help the children when writing their sentences which can be read by themselves and others. They will continue to use basic structural features of a sentence and put their pre-cursive formation into practice.

In Maths, the children will order numbers to 20, state what is one more/one less than a given number and learn all about money and the key properties of 3D shapes and everyday objects.

PE this term is on a Monday (Fleetwood Town) and a Thursday. The focus will be multi-skills and gymnastics.

In RE we will look at stories Jesus told.

Spring Term 1 - 2020

This term Oak Class’s topic is “People Who Help Us”.

We will start by looking at who helps us within the local community such as farmers, doctors, dentists, emergency services and more. Each week, the children will have a surprise visitor to talk about their occupation and allow them to explore resources that are used within their role. The continuous provision activities will also link to each visitor, allowing the children to apply the new skills and knowledge they have learn't. The Role Play Area is normally very popular within the class and it includes lots of costumes and real life props.

In Literacy, the children will continue to take part in their daily phonics, learning phase 3 sounds. This will help the children when writing their own simple captions & sentences. They will learn the basic structural features of a sentence and practice their pre-cursive formation.

In Maths, the children will begin to use language associated with adding and subtracting, they will also explore the term capacity and continue to practice number formation to 20.

PE this term is on a Thursday (indoor) and Friday (outdoor) afternoon.

In RE we will look at stories Jesus heard and stories Jesus told.
